A body was discovered in the Italian Gardens of Hyde Park this morning.
Police cordoned off the area after the body of an unidentified man was found hanging next to a pond.
Police were alerted to the incident after a member of the public called emergency services at 7.05am.
Scotland Yard described the death as “unexplained” and added that there was no reason to suspect foul play.
The gardens are located near the Serpentine, close to Bayswater Road. Half a mile from Marble Arch where it is suspected that large numbers of Romanian immigrants have been sleeping rough over recent weeks.
Reports suggest as many as 60 rough sleepers have been spotted in the specified area at any one time.
Officers from Westminster borough were investigating the death.
